Comprehensive energy analysis program used to determine the compliance of a building to Canada's Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). EE4 CODE may also be used to perform non-compliance energy analyses and thus to predict the annual energy consumption of a building and to assess the impact of design changes. EE4 CODE calculations are based on an approved version of DOE-2.1E.

Expertise Required: 

Basic understanding of Windows. Knowledge of building modeling. Engineering background helpful but not required.

Audience: 

Mechanical, building, energy engineers and architects working for consulting firms, building owners and/or designers. Building and energy-code verifiers.

Input: 

Basic information, location, envelope component areas and characteristics, characteristics of building's HVAC, lighting and service water heating systems.

Output: 

Energy consumption of design building and MNECB reference building. Summary and detailed compliance reports.

Strengths: 

EE4 CODE automatically generates a reference building to verify compliance to the MNECB using the performance path approach. EE4 CODE can also be used in non-compliance mode to predict a building's annual energy consumption and assess the impact of design changes. User-friendly interface and on-line help. Includes default libraries of common building plants, systems, construction assemblies and materials, lighting elements, fenestration and operating schedules. Available in English and French.
